Iron Cross Begonia

Description

Miraculous. A perfect chocolate brown cross is emblazoned upon every leaf.

Even more strange is the feel of these leaves. They have a texture that does not look or feel real. They are puckered with dimples, and covered with small hairs.

A third reward: they bloom! Delicate small white flowers rise high above the foliage on branched stalks.

The Iron Cross Begonia gets its name from the corss shape that appears on each of its broad leaves. The begonia and its relative make superb foliage plants which are lovely as well as durable.

The plant must be placed in medium to high light during the winter and medium light the rest of the year. However the Iron Cross Begonia does tolerate low light. The plant grows well if it is placed under artificial light 14 hours per day.

The Iron Cross Begonia must be fed weekly with mild solution during active growth. The growing tips are to be pinched to control growth and to produce bushier plants.
